Hello everyone! I am happy to be here and just as excited that you are taking of your precious time to read what I have written.
This is my first real Blog under Jewels Prophet. That brings me to the topic of this Blog: Whats in a Name?
We all know that a name identifies us and a name is what we all have in common--every one have a name! Why, there is even a study of names called onomastics. Can you believe that people actually study names? Most names have special meanings and originate from various times in history and have roots from different languages.
Pronunciations can be a bit tricky at times. I remember the first time I saw the name Shawn written as Sean. Needless to say that I called out very loudly, in the salon I was cutting hair in, Sean, as we Westerners would misprounance it--just as it sounds. I was a little embarassed but soon got over it. I was told by Sean that I was not the only one who had mispronounced his name.
I would like to share my pseudonym, Jewels Prophet.
I am a published author of spiritual books. I was inspired to take on the name Jewels Prophet. My real name is Ruby. I have really never cared for the name Ruby, it sounds so old. Therefore, I sought GOD for the perfect name that would depict who I really am. This is when I was given the name Jewels to replace Ruby. I was a prophet or prophetess for those who get hung up on gender vernacular and it made sense to me that the name I would write under was a perfect description of a rare jewel and the Election of prophet..
Do I regret writing under a pseudonym versus my real name? After all, whats in a name?
